Censorship.

Those of you visiting my blog will *probably* have seen the banner, and if it annoys you my apologies it'll be down tomorrow.  However I believe Internet censorship is a very important issue.

The man always keeping us down.
There may be things such as child pornography that people argue shouldn't be on the internet, which I agree, but other things that this bill could censor such as creative works.  For you non-American readers, you can disregard this for now, but also think that it could spread world wide if the "land of the free" is willing to hide its citizen from the Internet.

I know a few people will argue about all the technicalities of censoring websites and how hard that would truly be, but I have a fairly convincing argument.  Whats the easiest way to stop people from doing illegal things on the internet?  Block the internet from everyone.  That may sound drastic and totalitarian, but its a solution nonetheless, which is why I think people need to really get a voice out on the issue about Internet censorship.

  3. I posted about this as well. I am not very computer literate, so I could not get the popup to work.

  4. First, they censor television. Now, they want to censor the internet too? That's just too much!!

  5. Usually what governments do with this is chip away freedoms slowly, and methodically over many years...then before you know it we have none left.

  9. The thing that really bothers me about this is they're threatening to shutdown web services like mediafire and hotfile. Although those sites are hotspots for people to upload pirated stuff, they're the only real free downloading services for people to use. I have my chiptune album up on hotfile, i'm pretty sure there aren't too many other places that are willing to host some 30 meg file I have for free. Down with SOPA!
